Pensacola Lawyers Host Annual Fiesta Days Celebration

June 11, 2019 - /PressAdvantage/ - It’s only fitting that every year, one of Pensacola’s oldest law firms sponsors the opening event of one of the city’s oldest traditions. That law firm is Emmanuel Sheppard & Condon and the event is Pensacola’s annual Fiesta Days. It’s the oldest and largest heritage festival in the State of Florida. This will mark the 70th year that the Fiesta has been held, and the kickoff event for the fiesta is called ‘The Fiesta Days Celebration’.

The name of the festival came about because Pensacola has been governed at one time or another by five different countries since its founding back in 1559 by Don Tristan de Luna of Spain. Over the course of time, the city has seen Spanish, French, British, Confederate, and American flags flying.

This year’s Fiesta Days Celebration event was held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019. It took place from 7:00-10:00 p.m. at Pensacola’s historic Seville Quarter. The celebration included various forms of entertainment, elaborate decorations, and delicious food served in five different rooms. Each room represented the country of one of the five flags that have flown over the city.

Among the local dignitaries attending were the city’s Mayor, Fire Chief, and Supervisor of Elections. The Escambia County Sheriff and Pensacola Naval Air Station’s Commanding Officer were also in attendance. It’s a tradition for these people to “surrender the city” to the acting Don Tristan de Luna and his Queen for the 10-day period that the Fiesta runs.

"Fiesta has been a tradition of the Pensacola area for many years. As one of the city's oldest law firms, we are proud once again to sponsor this joyous event," said Firm Administrator Mike Knowles.

Those at Emmanuel Sheppard & Condon actually got a jump on the Grand Fiesta Parade festivities as they also hosted an afternoon lot party. This event took place outside the firm's main office on Spring Street in Pensacola.

In addition to their sponsorship of Fiesta Pensacola, the firm and its lawyers are consistently engaged in a wide array of charitable and community-based activities in Pensacola and the surrounding area. They are well known in the area for a long history of pro bono service.

Emmanuel Sheppard & Condon is one of the Gulf Coast area’s largest and most respected full-service law firms. The firm has law offices in Pensacola, Sandestin and Perdido Key. Since 1913, the firm has provided a wide variety of practice areas for the citizens and businesses in the area. Very few law firms in the state of Florida can claim they have provided over 100 years of continuous legal services to their communities.

On the business side, the firm offers a wide variety of business, corporate and banking legal services. These include such areas as construction law, real estate law, employment law, and many more.

For individuals, the firm provides experienced legal services for virtually every need. That includes such specialized legal areas as social security disability, family law, and criminal law.

In addition, Emmanuel Sheppard & Condon is particularly well-known for its personal injury law services. With more than 130 years combined experience, their personal injury team is known to aggressively fight for those who have been injured in car accidents, slip and fall incidents, by defective products and more.

The law firm has won its share of accolades over the years too. Not only has the firm attained Martindale Hubbell’s most prestigious AV rating, but half of the attorneys working at the firm have received this highly favorable AV rating too; that’s something that only 5% of all lawyers in America can claim. Former UConn coach Jim Calhoun earns 900th career win

Aug 3, 2020

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Jim Calhoun’s 900th win looked like so many others during a Hall of Fame coaching career. He stomped. He screamed. He slammed objects. The only real difference is the sideline he now controls. The longtime Connecticut coach added another milestone Friday night when the University of Saint Joseph beat Pratt Institute 105-61. Now in his second season coaching in Division III, Calhoun joined Mike Krzyzewski, Jim Boeheim and Bob Knight — all former rivals and national champions at college basketball’s highest level — as the only coaches to coach at least 10 seasons in Division I...

Cowboys to introduce McCarthy as club's 9th coach Wednesday

Aug 3, 2020

FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys will introduce Mike McCarthy as the ninth coach in franchise history Wednesday. The club made the announcement Tuesday, a day after McCarthy reached agreement on a deal to replace Jason Garrett. It's the second coaching stop for the 56-year-old McCarthy, who won a Super Bowl and went to the playoffs nine times in 12-plus seasons with Green Bay. The Packers won the title at the home of the Cowboys nine years ago. They went to the NFC championship game four times under McCarthy, who is 125-77-2 in the regular season and 10-8 in the...

Ghana soccer association fires all coaches

Aug 3, 2020

ACCRA, Ghana — The Ghana soccer association has fired all its national team coaches in a drastic and unexpected move. That includes the coaches for the men's and women's senior national teams and all men's and women's youth teams. In all, nine coaches were removed. The Ghana Football Association said it “dissolved the technical teams of all national teams with immediate effect” and “extends its appreciation to all coaches and members of the respective national teams for their contributions.” The GFA gave no reason for the decision. The move means Kwesi Appiah has been fired as coach of the men's...

Ode to Sports: Pats & Nats, a roster from A(stros) to Z(ion)

Aug 3, 2020

A year now passes. How’d I know? Analytics guys told me so. They crunched the data. What’s it mean? Anyone’s guess: 2019. First Quarter ‘Bama toppled, it’s Clemson’s prize – White House visit, with burgers, fries. Fury nearing incoherence, Saints aghast: No interference? Super Bowl is kind of boring – Pats and Brady, not much scoring. Hall of Fame vote, Sandman enters. All Rivera, no dissenters. Osaka sure looks here to stay. Australia makes her resume. The neck, the back, the aching knees – Vonn calls it quits, hangs up her skis. Taking it to the hoop and hilt, James...

Blackhawks rally to beat Blue Jackets in shootout

Aug 3, 2020

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Chicago Blackhawks won in a shootout, and the Columbus Blue Jackets may have lost something more valuable than the game: their starting goalie. Joonas Korpisalo had to leave the game with an injury after unsuccessfully trying to stop the first-round overtime shot from Jonathan Toews. Columbus backup Elvis Merzlikins entered the game cold and allowed the third-round shooter, Patrick Kane, to juke him and get one in on the net. Chicago goalie Robin Lehner then shut down Nathan Gerbe in the third round of the tie-breaker to preserve the Blackhawks' 3-2 win. There was no update...
